In short, it should be possible to adapt a 2.3 Turbo injection to a 2.0 Pinto, the basics are the same. I looked into this for my turbo Pinto a couple of years ago. What I lust for here in the States is a Cosworth 2.9. I know of one person who has dyno'd at 400 hp at the wheels. I've personally run 23 psi on my 1987 XR4Ti. The 2.3 is a poor performer normally aspirated but the block, crank, rods and pistons are very robust and it will handle insane amounts of boost as long as its intercooled well. I know of several that have had that done. That means the correct mounts and all exist to bolt the 2.3 turbo into a MK2. There were approximately 200,000 Thunderbird TurboCoupesĪs the Euro Capri's were not available after 1977 there were no Euro Capri's with the 2.3 turbo although the MK2's got the base 2.3 liter engine. There were only about 2500 Fox based Capri RS's (they are really rare and valuable) There were only about 9000 Mustang SVO's built (rare and valuable) Here is a list of the cars it was in:ġ984-1986 Mustang SVO 175 hp at 15 psi later bumped to 205 hpġ985-1989 Merkur XR4Ti (think Sierra) 145 hp auto 175 hp manualġ983-1988 Thunderbird TurboCoupe from 145 hp to 195 hp in 87 and 88.
Here in the US the 2.3 turbo was never actually available in a Pinto.
